An interactive museum experience that transforms visitors’ emotions into a collective visual narrative.  All of the following videos and images contain functioning Touchdesigner prototypes, visualized through Blender renders.
Used software:
Touchdesigner, Adobe After Effects, Blender;
Project role:
Concept creation, ideation and realization of experience and Touchdesigner prototypes;
PAC, Pavilion of Contemporary Art in Milan, presents BODY OF EVIDENCE by Iranian artist Shirin Neshat.
Through immersive installations, visitors experience the exhibition and interact with the space, making visible the dialogue between viewer and artwork, and between the viewers themselves.
Overview
We designed experiences that crossed the border between the museum and the visitors, to bring them closer to the artist without changing her original vision of the exhibition.
The interactive installations were backed by a web application, which tracked and gave a final result on the visitor's journey through the museum. See the video below for the project's overview.
The rooms
The experience was custom-designed for PAC Milano. We began by studying the museum's layout and mapping the visitor journey.
We then selected specific rooms within the exhibition to enhance with our digital interactions, leaving others in their original state. Through this intervention, each interactive space was enriched with a new dimension of meaning.
Shadow Projection
The first room, the shadow projection room. Its purpose was to engage the viewer by evoking distance and alienation. The silhouettes fade and come back as time passes, letting the past mix with the present.
Second & Third rooms
The second room features a Heatmap projection below visitors' paths. Luminous trails represent intertwining memories and personal stories. [1, 2]
The third room [3] features a head tracking system which turns eaach viewer's gaze into a physical, yet fleeting, trace.
Final room
In the final room users can display their emotion using a NFC color palette, which, when used, activates a beam of colorful particles. Their collective emotions, which evolve and mix over time, turn the installation into an ever changing landscape.
System diagrams & posters
Through planning, our team defined both system and architectural diagrams to bring the experience to life. The diagrams explain the connection between the various devices needed for the interaction to take part.
Finally, we designed two digital posters to advertise our exhibition.
